If you’re feeling excited, nervous, overwhelmed, emotional, or all of the above — that’s completely normal.
Newborn sessions often bring up a lot of questions:
Will my baby settle?
What if they cry?
What if I’m exhausted?
What if this feels like too much?
You don’t need to have anything figured out.
Once you’ve booked, my role is to guide the session and take the pressure off — so you can simply arrive and let things unfold at your baby’s pace.
You and your baby are exactly where you’re meant to be.
Newborn sessions are slow, warm, and quiet.
Most parents spend the session sitting down, watching, feeding, resting, or having a cup of tea while I work with their baby. There’s no expectation to “do” anything or help direct the session.
There are pauses.
There are feeds.
There are cuddles.
There is time.
This is not a performance, and it’s not something to get through. It’s a supported, baby-led experience designed around real newborn life.
This is the most important thing to know.
Nothing is rushed. Nothing is forced.
Some babies sleep deeply, others stay awake and curious. Both result in beautiful, meaningful images — just in different ways.
There is no “right” way for your baby to be.
Your baby’s safety is never compromised.
I’m professionally trained in newborn handling and posing, and every setup is fully supported. If a pose doesn’t feel right for your baby, we simply don’t do it.
The studio is cleaned thoroughly, all fabrics are washed with non-scented detergent, and hygiene is taken seriously at every stage.
I work with newborns weekly, so maintaining a healthy studio environment matters — for your baby and for others.
Please read this — it matters.
If your baby is congested, coughing, feverish, unsettled, or simply not themselves, please let me know. I would always prefer to reschedule than photograph a baby who isn’t comfortable.
A sick baby won’t settle easily, and your baby’s health always comes first.
There is no guilt, no judgement, and no penalty for rescheduling due to illness. We’ll simply adjust the plan.
The same goes for you — if recovery is slower than expected, if emotions are high, or if you just need more time, that’s okay.
This stage is tender. We work around it, not against it.
Newborn sessions are designed for babies in the first 1–3 weeks after birth, when they’re typically sleepier and more settled for this type of work.
Most parents book during pregnancy, and I hold a flexible window around your due date. Once your baby arrives, you simply message me and we confirm the session date based on how you’re both doing.
If your baby is older than around 4 weeks, a traditional newborn session is no longer the right fit — and that’s okay. At this stage, babies are more alert and active, and I prefer to photograph them in a different way.
In those cases, I’ll usually recommend a sitter (around 6 months +) or baby milestone session instead, which is designed specifically for older babies and results in more natural, comfortable images for everyone.
There isn’t a “missed opportunity” — just a different session that suits your baby’s stage better.
You don’t need to bring much. I provide wraps, textures, outfits, and everything needed for the session.
Please bring:
That’s it.
Comfort matters more than anything.
Soft, neutral tones photograph beautifully and keep the focus on your baby:
beige, black, taupe, muted greens, earthy tones.
Avoid:
You do not need to look “done”.
A simple top, dress, or vest in a neutral tone is perfect. If you’re unsure, bring one or two options and we’ll decide together.
And just so you know — you’re never obliged to be in photos.
When parents do choose to be included, images are usually taken from the waist up, or with your baby in your arms or hands — natural, close, and comfortable. Nothing is staged to highlight areas you may feel unsure about.
I’ll guide a few simple images with your baby if you’re open to it, but there’s no pressure.
Newborn skin changes daily.
I retouch gently and naturally, keeping your baby looking like themselves.
Temporary things like scratches, redness are softened as part of my normal editing process. I don’t over-edit or change features — the aim is timeless images that still feel real.
And for what it’s worth: I love flaky skin, especially on newborn hands and feet. Those tiny details are part of what makes this stage so real.
Around 2–3 weeks after your session, you’ll return to the studio for your Viewing & Ordering Appointment.
This is when you’ll see your finished images and choose your favourites, along with any artwork you’d love for your home.
You don’t need to decide anything before you’ve seen the images.
Nothing needs to be perfect.
Newborn days can feel fragile, emotional, and overwhelming.
You don’t need to prepare perfectly, look a certain way, or arrive with a settled baby.
Just come as you are — I’ll guide everything from there.
If questions come up at any point, just reach out.
I’m looking forward to welcoming you and your little one into the studio.
You’re welcome to share inspiration images if you’d like — colours, moods, or past work you’re drawn to. It helps, but it’s not required.
All sessions take place at:

The studio is a comfortable, purpose-built space designed for portrait work.
